As well as being the Manager at our sister branch Hunstanton Eyecare, Annette is a Low Vision Practitioner and runs the Low Vision Clinics at the Queen Elizabeth hospital in King's Lynn.
If you would rather not wait for the NHS, you are welcome to see Annette for advice if your vision cannot be adequately corrected with spectacles alone. She says “We cannot give sight to the blind, but the art of Low Vision Practice is to make the most of the vision a patient has, and sometimes the results are quite surprising”
Family and friends are often trying to help someone whose sight is failing, their kindness is much appreciated, but buying gadgets from any shop or the internet doesn’t allow you to try them out.
At Hunstanton Eyecare we can offer you a variety of Low Vision Aids depending on what tasks are most difficult for you. Our range of magnifiers and telescopic aids are tools in a toolbox, and it is unlikely that one item will suit all situations.
For example, you may choose a magnifier for reading, which stands on the page and is quite large, and another pocket size magnifier for taking out shopping. High-tech Electronic Video magnifiers are also available as well as Orcam, a state of the art wearable device that reads printed text to you.
Tell us what your visual difficulties are and we will endeavour to find a solution.
Hunstanton Eyecare is now a partner and supplier of OrCam. OrCam is one of the latest technological innovations to assist the severely sight impaired.
OrCam MyEye 2.00 snaps magnetically to the side of your spectacle frame and weighs less than an ounce.
The device is a clever camera which can read text, recognise faces and products, and even tells you the time, all in one tiny gadget.
We offer demonstrations in our practice by appointment.
