COVID UPDATE JUNE 2022

We have now had notification from our governing body  The General Optical Council that the wearing of masks is optional when you attend.

Practitioners and staff will still be wearing masks, if they choose to do so.

Hand sanitisation is still available and all equipment will be kept to the high standard of Hygiene that we have always had

COVID UPDATE MAY 2022

Optometry since the start of the Covid Pandemic has followed Government and The College of Optometrists Guidelines.

These guidelines allowed the business to see emergency and essential eyecare.

From the 10th May these restrictions will be removed as we get ever closer to the 'NEW NORM'

Entry into the building can now be without a mask but as we are a registered NHS care provider, we still recommend the wearing of the mask (unless medically unable to)

We will still have the hand sanitiser available and all frames tried on will still be cleaned, as will all equipment between each patient.

NB WE RESPECTIVELY ASK YOU TO CONTINUE MASK WEARING FOR YOUR EYE EXAMINATIONS AS THIS IS STILL REQUIRED DUE TO THE CONSULTATION BEING IN AN ENCLOSED SPACE WITH NO WINDOWS

COVID-19 CORONAVIRUS UPDATE 25/02/22

As a healthcare environment, we have a duty of care to all our patients and staff. We are still required to adhere to the Department Of Health Infection Prevention & Control Guidance for Health and Care Settings which have not changed. Therefore, despite the Government's announcement of the cessation of all restrictions, for everyone’s safety and reassurance, we will continue to operate under the same strict measures. These include an appointment only service to control footfall into the practice, hygiene measures and requiring all staff and patients to wear a facemask (unless exempt).

We are still working through the backlog and will do so for the foreseeable future. Therefore, please bear with us as we try to prioritise those that need seeing more urgently than others. To aid us with this, please mention any visual concerns or needs when contacting us.

At Eyecare Norfolk Ltd like many other businesses, we have been greatly affected.

 In our industry as we are not only governed by Government legislation, but also our professional bodies, General Optical Council, College of Optometrists, Association of British Dispensing Opticians.

 As health professionals we don’t want to be responsible for spreading the virus. So please bear with us as we continue using appointments allocated for everything and the use of hand sanitiser and mask wearing.

We are open, we are here for you and can deal with all your concerns about your eyesight and can provide you with fantastic advice for all aspects of Eyecare. We look forward to seeing you soon.

While we constantly review our COVID-19 guidance to ensure it is up to date, we anticipate the Amber phase guidance will continue for some period of time, and potentially for a prolonged period into 2022.

 We can no longer supply Contact Lenses to an out-of-date prescription

 Ever Since the original lockdown happened at the end of March 2020, we have followed the Government and the College of Optometrists rules of Opening and Patient accessibility very closely.

Due to the limitations imposed and working conditions we have not sent any reminder letters to our existing customer base since this time apart from Under 16 and Family History of Glaucoma as a duty of care .

The present situation we are in is we can examine anybody from any clinical category if we have the capacity to do so. We must first and foremost have clinic availability on a clinic day to facilitate an Emergency and or an Essential appointment.

We would like to express that no individual has not received their routine reminder for no other reason than the Covid- 19 pandemic. We have left you to call us in your need rather than ask you to come in, we have been totally respecting the individual choice as to present into the practice.

The Practice staff members are all self-testing twice weekly. We have also since we are classified as an NHS-CARE provider and deliver Face -2- Face Consultation have received all vaccinations and the booster

1.The practice is still operating a timed entry by appointment only.

2. A locked-door policy to control the number of people in the building at any given time.

3.Remote Hand Sanitizer Dispenser at the door.

4.Screen guards around Reception.

5. All practitioners will be in Scrubs and Face Mask/Gloves and Aprons where required.

6. Consulting Room washed down between each appointment.

7. If your call reaches the answerphone, it is being remotely accessed so you will get a call back.

We have followed the compliance rules and made the practice as safe an environment to visit in structure and personnel, do not sit at home with poor vision, we can hopefully help and assist.
